Event Description

On Wednesday, February 24th at 8 pm EST, we'll have an expert in chronic illness and relationships here, on a special WEGO Health webinar, to help foster discussion and answer questions about this very topic: chronic illness and relationships.

Janis Roszler, RD, CDE, LD/N is the American Association of Diabetes Educators’ 2008-2009 Diabetes Educator of the Year. She is a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator, columnist, radio host, and health media producer. Her books include Sex and Diabetes (ADA) Diabetes on your OWN Terms (Marlowe & Co) and The Secrets of Living and Loving with Diabetes (Surrey books). And she's going to spend some time with us on February 24th, talking about relationships and chronic illness. Even though Janis's expertise is in the field of type 1 diabetes, she is a highly respected authority on the impact of chronic illness in general, and I've had the pleasure of working with her in the past.

It's going to be a great discussion, and I'm hoping there will be plenty of health activists in attendance, armed with questions, comments, and ready to talk about some of the tougher stuff that sometimes our "regular doctors" don't touch upon. Once this webinar is over, we'll all have plenty of great blog post ideas and community discussions in our mental hoppers, ready to share with our respective communities.

RSVP as "Attending" and we'll send you the webinar details!

My engagement was broken off this past spring (together for about 6 yrs) and a lot of our difficulties had to do with my chronic daily headaches... I've been trying to get back into the dating scene but certainly think a lot about how my headaches will end up affecting future relationships, when to bring it up, all that jazz...

Just a little housekeeping before the webinar tonight:

You will not need a microphone for any portion of the webinar. All of the Q&A will be text based, so you can ask a question, or share a comment, at any time, by typing it into the “Questions” box on the right hand side of your screen and hitting “Send." I'll see the questions and filter them through to Janis! :)

To listen to the webinar presentation through your computer, select the “Use Mic & Speakers” option in the Audio pane on the right hand side of your screen. You can plug in headphones, or listen over your computer’s speakers. If you’d prefer to listen in over the phone, please be aware that this call in number is not a toll-free line. So take advantage of the computer technology and tune in via the web!

See you tonight at 8 pm EST!

I definitely could use more advice on navigating long-term relationships with chronic illness.

I'll be there! I'm a chronic pain patient who is looking forward to the webinar. Chronic pain has been a royal "pain" in my relationships and I'm eager to hear the info. "See" ya Wed.

Thanks for bringing this to us. My childrens father and I divorced over chronic illness, and I'm pretty sure if that would not have caused such a rift we would still be together.
