Hi Robbie,
Do you have Cervical Dystonia? Sometimes I have this pain too because of the muscles pulling. When the pain goes behind my eyeballs, with all of the pulling, then I become nauseous. When this happens. I get sick to my stomach for about 6 hours before the pain subsides. This has happened to me about 5 times in the last 8 months. I have finally learned to drink little sips of water, so I don't have "dry heaves." Mine is not a migraine, but I'm affected the same way. Is your pain so great that you become nauseous too?
Karen
Karen, I have cervical dystonia with my shoulder affected on my right side, plus scoliosis and I used to get this kind of pain too. It would start on the right side of my neck like someone trying to hammer a nail into my skull and move up and behind my right eye until it felt like my eyeball was going to pop out of my head. It was a migraine which I would take Imitrex which did work. Then I was talking to my neurologist about getting botox around my brow and that has stopped all the symtoms I had in the past and I look younger too bonus.

Hi Robbie, you may also find headache information by joining the WEGO Health Migraine group. For diagnosis, a headache specialist at a headache clinic would probably be your best bet. Because they are neurologists that specialize in different types of headache, they are quite familiar with even the strangest sounding headache types, and can best guide you to an appropriate physician if you have other issues that either directly or indirectly are affecting your head.
There are many headache types to be considered. The neck pain can be the generator that starts your head pain (usually termed Cervicogenic Headache), a trigger for Migraine or Occipital Neuralgia, a symptom of what is happening inside your head, or even part of prodrome, aura or headache in Migraine. So many things to consider! The head pain and the neck pain could even be a symptom to something seemingly unrelated, such as endocrine disorder or autoimmunity.
To keep in mind: any type of new or changed headache is reason to see your doctor.
I hope you are feeling better since your post, and invite you to join us in the Migraine community soon!

hello all,
I think you can visit a chiropractor as well, they can deal with pain caused by the spine being out of alignment. I know I fell once and was real dizzy and nauseous, turns out it was my vertebra out of whack. Once I went to him for a while, the headaches receded as well!
Or try some valerian supplements from your health food store for the pain, it relaxes the nervous system.
I also have very bad pain in my neck and it makes it hard to turn my head from side to side. I have also noticed lately a pain that goes along with it that is on the same effected side of my tremors but on the top of my head. We can only hope it goes away soon.
hello all,
I think it may be worth mentioning to take some magnesium as a supplement. It helps to relax the muscles, and is totally safe with any other meds you may be on.
You can also try some Valerian for relaxing at night, it helps you sleep too.
