i am going to my dr as im concered one of thee meds im on may worsen my movements.does anyone knw the worst and the least likely to exacerbate movements.thanks=marie
When I had to go on anti-depressants I was put on the old fashionned tricyclics which aren't used so often now cos of arrythmias etc. I went on them incredibly slowly in case it exacerbated movements-or in case I lost too much tone as it potentiates Baclofen but in actual fact my dystonia has improved and my pain certainly has. I was told in no uncetain terms that under no circumstances would I be allowed to take an SSRI (the new ones, prozac etc) as they are notorious for causing/exacerbating movement disorders-not in everyone though, Steph
Marie, I'm taking Citalopram (old form of Lexapro I think UK name) for depression, and I would say my movements are worse since taking it although I have no conclusive feel for that, just a nagging hunch.

Hi,
I haven't been on this forum lately, as I have been feeling quite lousy. I've been on the anti-depressent Citalopram (Celexa), and my neck and back pain have become much worse. It's a low dosage (10 mg) and I've been on it for about 5 weeks, but I definitely have more tightening and head tremors.

Hello, I am taking Cymbalta and it has not increased movement in myself or any of my extremities. I like it, it has made things much better for me..It also helps with muscle pain. Its new and expensive without insurance. When hunny changed his position I went on Cobra for 2 months and had to buy it a week at a time. Lene
I took Citalopram (Celexa) for about 1 1/2 years without any adverse side effects. Once I started feeling better again and started to rebuild myself I was able to move through my depression.
I took Citalopram (Celexa) for over 2 years and did not seem to have any adverse side effect. I eventually was able to feel better and rebuild my self up. I have been free of anti-depressants for several years now and feel more positive than I even have before! Of course I do supplement with natural discount vitamins, so that helps!
antidepressants cause dystonia & dyskenisa so do other drugs littel know, buspar, tegrotol, xanax. you will ahve to talk to someone who really knows, most neuro's and doc's don't know, u have to get a good one to find out. I would like to know the answer to that one myself as most do cause dystonia or can.
i use naturals now and rue the day I ever took antideprssants. some days in the winter I wish I could take them again. alt of mine was caused from celexa sisster to lexprexo, very badly damaged, also the tegrotel even lithium can cause it.
will be intereesting to see reply, excuse the typo's have trouble typing often can't.
