I ran across this video interview of man who quit his job to become the primary caregiver to his father who has Alzheimer's disease. It's an amazing story of two interesting people, Ric and Jesus Gomez.

Ric, the caregiver, touches on some important issues facing caregivers, such as the frustrations of caregiving and where to go for help. Something as simple as calling the Alzheimer's Association's 24-hour helpline can help alleviate stress and frustration by providing counseling and support.

He also touches on the importance of providing a routine for his father, as well as familiar meals and daily activities. It's a must see video for anyone in the Alzheimer's community. It's caregiving at it's best.

I was genuinely touched by Ric's honesty and enthusiasm in providing the best care to his father. It was also moving to hear how Jesus feels about his son. Watch the video and let me know what you think.

Ric also writes about his life with his father, in the blog The Trouble with Jesus. Be sure to check it out.

This story is truly an inspiration and should be shared with everyone who has been affected my AD. I just read Ric's blog, which he calls his "outlet to vent; a self therapy of sorts." I think it would be excellent if everyone living with AD especially caregivers took Ric's advice and found an outlet, such as blogging, to help them cope.

You're right, Stephanie. Finding an outlet for anything stressful or demanding can make all the difference when it comes to creating a balanced life. I enjoyed seeing how Ric balances his life with caring for his father and finding time to enjoy the day to day routines, like cooking and blogging. His life is very inspirational.
