Hi,

I'm Karen and I am new to the group.  However, I am not new to allergies!  I tend to get it all in my chest, I have asthma as well.  This past week has been particularly a tough week to breathe!  I have two inhalers but there must be something that was very high going on.

Hello everyone :)

Which medication for asthma is better, Advair or Dulera?

DeeNJai--make sure he takes a good history, too. Skin testing may indicates some things that aren't that important, although they are better than blood tests.

my practice nurse suggested that I should ask my GP about having the skin prick test to see what I am allergic to. My old doctor didnt believe this test so I will ask him when I see him next. Dee

Veromay--you're so right. As my co-author Dr. Paul Ehrlich describes it, a lont-time neo-synephrine user had sinuses that looked like hamburger. Saline, baking soda, water--all you need.

Hi, Haven't been well lately so let me reflect back on a couple of questions. OTC nasal sprays can make things worse by drying out the membranes in your nose with possible nose bleeds resulting; and worse, they can cause a rebound effect so that you will feel the need to use them more often than directed. If this has happened to you, I would suggest what a doctor told me: OTC Nasal Saline will not only make the person feel better able to breathe, but it will also soothe the nasal membrane and help it to heal. It causes NO rebound effect, NO drying of the membranes, and BEST of ALL - you have NO LIMITATIONS on how often you use it. You will not become hooked as several of my friends have - they used this method to kick the habit and don't use anything but the Saline for their Nasal Drops - unless their doctor prescribes sonmthing differend which they will use exactly as directed. I hope this is helpful. Roni B

Allergies fr/most5ly outside makes my nose run/drip like a faucet. Very continuous and annoying. I am wondering if perhaps I have a polyp??

Every parent of a food allergic child is looking for wisdom on helping manage their child's diet without making it into a big source anxiety. Food allergy support group veteran took inspiration from an old source--Dr. Spock, although Spock never addressed food allergies specifically. (I guess if he were still alive he would have to.)

Hi, I am an asthma patient and have taken the combivent inhaler meds. and then went on to the prednisone, albuterol for my breathing machine. The medicine I used with the breathing machine worked real well. I didn't have very good results with the quick inhalers.

Thanks for the updates. It pays to be a member of these communities and I don't have to always go to the doctor or to the hospital.
