Very difficult to find web-based games that support good play interactions and facilitate foundational social skills such as taking turns.  there is a new site, OHANARAMA   check it out.  i was really amazed at how well it support healthy play with games any parent would like.   i blogged about it on their site.  I would love your thoughts.  Feel free to share.   http://www.ohanarama.com/blog/

PBS will start its series on autism tonight and it will air all week (April 18 - 26).  Robert MacNeil who retired several years ago will return to do the series because his grandson was diagnosed with autism.  I'm reminding all the media venus I frequent to watch it.

The more I know about autism, the more I feel I've got so much more to learn.  It is such a dynamic disorder, not only being a spectrum amongst its population, but causing a spectrum of symptoms itself as the child grows and develops.

I hope it's good series and I hope the consider the needs of autistic teens and adults.  So much emphases is place on the young ones, but what will they do when they become adults?

I'm going to be commenting on the series at:  http://www.sockitmama.com

I am a 54-yr old electrical engineer who is ADD (diagnosed) and mildly autistic (undiagnosed). Engineering is not ADD-friendly, but there are many engineers who are mildly autistic. Aspies (short for "those with aspberger's") tend to be better at math (math has always been easy for me) and also tend to have more patents. I have one patent (5,495,143) and am working on a couple more. It is a good thing I have the talents I do, because, despite having compassion for those around me, I could never be in sales or any other people-oriented profession.

We have 18 grandchildren ages 4 to 21. Our 10 yr old grandson is autistic. He has problems in most social situations (parents really try hard). This past week his family and 4 other grandchildren joined us on vacation. These children age 12-16 and you would think they could understand that Alex doesn't always behave the way the want him to, but they were horrible. I need a resource to help educate them on what to expect from an autistic cousin. My daughter has tended to keep her child away from the rest of the family because they have very low tollerace for him. HELP!!! I love all these children and don't know where to turn.

I am a mother of a 15 year old with high functioning autism. We have been very successful in seeing improvements from ABA, Speech Therapy, OT, Handwriting without Tears, GF/CF diet, chelation, digestive enzymes and vitamins for malabsorption, organic, whole foods, minimizing toxic exposures and boosting natural glutathione production to keep him clean. He makes progress every day and is getting ready for high school in the fall. We are excited and hopeful for his future and looking to share our experience and advice with others.

I'm a grad student enrolled in a Masters program, working towards a Masters in early childhood education and early childhood special education. Some of the classes highlight on autism and some classes are just on autism. I would love to hear from parents of children with autism, or teenagers and adults living with autism so that I can better understand what it is like. Please share with me. I want to gain knowledge!

For anyone interested, Jenny McCarthy will be on The Doctors Today. I just started her book called Mother Warriors. It is excellent. She will be discussing her journey to help her son recover from Autism.
