Meant less as a "tooting of my own horn" than a sharing of resources:  the companion page to my 2009 presentation on "The Role of Online Communities in Diabetes Management":  http://n2kye.webwarren.com/TCF2009/

Over the past 10 years or so I've noticed that it's much easier to manage my diabetes when I'm feeling joyful. Having been in negative space in the past, I know that negative thinking breeds more negative and I end up hating my diabetes. These days when I'm feeling negative I check my thinking and invariably I'm thinking negative thoughts. So...I have to power to change what I'm thinking and when I start thinking positive thoughts everything gets better. I call myself The Joyful Diabetic; however. that's a choice that any diabetic can make. Here's wishing all fellow diabetics success in monitoring and changing their thinking. You'll be glad you did!

Join us Monday August 2nd, at 8pm Eastern for an exclusive webinar with two awesome Health Activists and friends: Laurie Edwards and Cheryl Alkon. Both Cheryl and Laurie are dedicated members of the online health community and are active bloggers (http://www.achronicdose.com and http://www.thesweetnesswithin.blogspot.com/) and Twitter users (@achronicdose and @Lyrehca). They're also both published authors, Laurie with her book "Life Disrupted, Getting real about Chronic Illness in your Twenties and Thirties" and Cheryl with her book "Balancing Pregnancy with Pre-Existing Diabetes: Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby."

In this webinar, you'll benefit from Laurie's dedication to educating young adults about chronic ilnness and Cheryl's focus on type 1 diabetes and fertility. You'll learn the ins and outs of being pregnant while living with a pre-existing health condition. You'll also hear more about how these ladies started their health activism journeys, how they work with the chronic condition community, and learn what everyone should know about pregnancy and chronic illness.

Once you RSVP at at http://community.wegohealth.com/events/chronic-illness-and-pregnancy , you'll receive details on how to join the discussion.

Hope to see you August 2nd!

I joined this group because of an interest in diabetes and its importance in society, and my job is to research across the internet to find the best type-2 diabetes related information for fellow activists.

you can follow me at twitter(@wegomoha) where I tweet about articles I find regarding healthy living.

I've been diagnosed with diabetes type 2 for the past 4 years. I think I must have had it longer than that, but I ignored many symptoms (thirst, frequent urination, headaches) because every injury I received healed quickly. Then I noticed that I could not feel the covers on my feet at night. That was the beginning of my peripheral neuropathy - all this is just my way of saying that diabetes or any long term illness is terribly discouraging. I have to struggle with this because it is not just one thing. As you said, there are quite a few reasons for your depression. When I hit the wall, I pray. The odd thing is that nothing really changes all that much for me except I have diverted my thought away from me and up and out to God. Although nothing in my health course changes, I am changed somehow to accept or go on or keep trying, looking for answers - He is up 24/7 thank God.
