I'm asking everyone if they have experienced this type of muscle spasm, it happened the first time when I was away on vacation in Punta Cuna 7yrs. ago going out for supper and all of sudden I felt this pain start in the middle of my back and radiate around to the front, it felt like I was in a bear hug with difficulty breathing, I was in a 3rd. world country and thought I was having a heart attack so I went to my room and took some ibuprofen and layed down scared to death and it took about 10 minutes and then it was gone. When returning home I went to my family doctor who in turn sent me for test's which came back fine. I've had this happen only a few times since but it can be very scary at the time, after this happened I was talking to my brother and he said the same thing has happen to him. Thorns
Mine had nothing to do with my heart it was muscle spasms that would start in the middle of my back and work it's way to my front and it was like being in a bear hug and would very painful. Since going for massage therapy I no long get these, most of the time when I did get this type of pain it was when I had done too much during the day or was lifting heavy things or being out with freinds and having to sit in a chair for along time. That is exactly how mine feels. My chest is tightened like I just ran a a wind sprint... Its painful to breathe.. Feels like I'm being choked at my chest and my heart is pressing against my ribs. It starts in my back and is sometimes started by physical activity or stress..
I have had it at least 20 years:
Diagnosis:
1. angina
2. elevated heartbeat.. tachycardia ..
3. anxiety attacks
4. Panic disorder
I do not agree with #3 and #4 because it is often started with physical activity
I however believed it, because calming down, laying down and breathing slow could stop it
I have not been treated for tachycardia, and the angina was not an official diagnosis.
Klonopin has worked to stop it. (so it could be anxiety or spasms.. who knows)
Now, my doctor is considering that it may actually be muscle spasms in my chest.
