I'm taking a cross country flight and am a little worried. I'll be alone and travelling by air with Dystonia for the first time. I've timed it for 4 weeks after my Botox shots but not sure what to expect. Any tips, hints, suggestions?

Thanks Beka, I'll tell my brother to do this, I don't think he'll want something to happen at this point with the DBS, he hasn't been on a vacation for year's and it's been so long I don't know if he can remember the last one.

I have to thank Beka again, it worked out just the way you said, he showed his card and the security just patted him down and he had a great vacation, first one in 30 yrs. loved the ocean, pools and just getting away. It did take him a few days to adjust to new sounds and bed and all, but overall it went well, I told him he's too young to to act old only 53 but that's what happens to some of us when we make our world small.
Thanks again. Thorns

Thanks for all of your tips and suggestions. My flights were uneventful, I ended up helping someone get a wheelchair to preboard and made a new friend. My disabled person ID got me quickly through TSA and preboarding. First class is the way to go not for the food or amenities except for the room and ability to recline more. Is it worth it if I didn't have the miles, absolutely yes on a 6 hour flight. How much value do you place on being more comfortable in our condition? Maybe for 2-3 hours, I can tolerate intense pain until I can fall asleep with 2 valium doses. The bulkhead seats in 1st class is best because you can stand and stretch without a seatback in your way. Also, travelling 1st class gave me use of a closet for my carry on so I didn't need to try to lift anything over my head. On one leg, there was a bass in the closet and a 115 lb flight attendant lifted my carryon up to the overhead bin. Lesson: don't be afraid or too proud to ask for help.

Wasn't a piece of cake but went okay. I ended up with the furthest gate both times but managed to flag down a TSA guy on the cart and ask for a ride. Again, don't b too proud to get help but don't demand attention.
