My question is regarding the connection between certain conditions. In particular CD and ear issues. I had an extensive cholesteatoma removed from my left ear almost 5 years ago, and my CD is on my left. It just seems like too much of a concidence to have two fairly rare conditions hit the same side - possibly at about the same time.
Does anyone know of any connections between CD and ear problems?
For other participants, here is what a cholesteaoma ishttps://health.google.com/health/ref/Cholesteatoma.
I have Generalized that includes oromandibular. I should note that I broke my jaw in a bike accident, along with experiencing a head trauma when I was in teens (now 50), which is why I think I have Dystonia to begin with. That said, my jaw is still really messed up. They are not sure if the surgery done to fix my jaw was not well done or Dystonia caused it to shift later. All we know is that the right jaw is missing the condyle (key part of joint) and is very arthritic. I don't have any symptoms in my right ear but I know when ever I stick a q-tip down there (which I rarely do, except for severe the wax buildup), it is very hard to get the qtip in there. It goes, but I can tell that one ear has a very different canal than the other. I have always wondered about but since it does not give me trouble I have never investigated it. Not sure if this helps but thought I would offer anyway.
I too have jaw issues, which I am sure is also caused by the CD (dentist agreed) by the muscles in the face being pulled down...on the left.
As for the ear, because of the extent of the cyst (cholesteatoma) I now am under care from an ent for the rest of my life for close monitoring - to clean out debris that would cause another cyst if left. Despite surgery the left ear is not draining like it should.
