I am really curious to know if anyone has seen IMPROVEMENT in their dystonic symptoms after DISCONTINUING Klonopin (clonazepam) or any other benzopiazepine.
I'm aware that the symptoms of withdrawal will usually exacerbate the dystonia. I'm interested in what was the final result after the drugs were out of your system and a period of time had elapsed in order for your body/brain to regain equillibrium.
Mind if I rephrase your question to get more information from respondents? I'm curious because I have been on Klonopin for almost 3 years and I vary my dosage from 2mg/day to 4mg/day.
"Has anyone had Klonopin or meds in the same family like Valium made their Dystonia symptoms worse?"
"If so, how were you titrated off the meds and did you suffer withdrawal symptoms?'
" When you were done, how long before you returns to your previous condition?"
FYI, I had problems with Artane making things worse nd the 3 week titration to remove the drug and my dependency on it was uncomfortable to say the least but 4 weeks after starting to wean off Artane, I had fully recovered. However, I was only on it for a month.

Hi Joe-
in 2000 I was taking close to 12 mgs of Klonopin a day. I had developed a HIGH tolerance to it as I still worked...lived and did my usual stuff... it was over Thanksgiving that I realized and decided to stop it cold turkey. NOT RECOMMENDED. Boy, did dystonia get worse. forget any turkey that holiday at all..I couldn't even sit in a chair or cut my own food...
However once I stopped the drug, went thru withdrawal symptoms a few weeks later, we decided to restart the drug ... and it seemed to do the trick.. since then havent been over 2 mg dose per day !
