My tremors subsided substantially with Neurontin. I take 400mg in am. & 1200 in the pm. My Botox treatments for the 8 weeks (approx) sometimes less helps with the tremor also. Lene
i have been put on several and none worked to well for me. meds don't help spasmodic torticollis. my most recent movement specialist and I discussed this.. after 26 years of dealing with this i was able to tell him a thing or two that he had no clue about and wanted to tell him DUH they don't work. I asked him, "then why do ya'll stick us on meds for head tremor?" he shrugged his shoulders. useless. honestly, it really chaps my hide that these docs who get to this level are somewhat clueless and the patient usually ends up knowing more. i know from several people though that botox is most effective.
what they tried me on: propranolol, mysoline 3 times, botox 3 times (so-so for me) neurontin, neurontin xanax combo (this was probably the best for me as far as meds go but i still did not have enough control, imo.), klonopin (nightmare for me), sinemet and artane.
I have had surprisingly good rsults with gabapentin (in Canada) with few side effects. Fatigue was the worst effect when i started, but my body acclimatized. I have been using it for about 6 years. I have had CD fro 20 years. This drug did not do much to straighten my neck, but eased the spasm in the upper Trap & Levator muscles that pain relief was almost simultaneous. I do not get botox shots & also take clonazepam.
