WEGO Health

Hi All-
Upon the suggestion of two members, I have begun this post so that it becomes the main viable thread and posting area for the New Online Video Channel for Dystonia and other disorders. One location to view and comment and post your thoughts on your thoughts about each Video Link.

I urge that everyone scan and post their own Video Links as a start- to begin the process. I will add videos Monday once I get out of the ICU.
One more nite to go...

HI Marie -
Why am in ICU ?? It's because I still work as a Nurse ICU wise. Have done so for the past 24 years. No quessing of my age !! I haven't quit nursing because of dystonia. I keep going, and going...well, not eally, but the last 2 weeks have been awfully busy and tough for me to get online.
There are plenty of experts here to help. Just ASK guestions and we'll help you along the way.
I'm glad that that a new world has opened up for you.
I'll be sitting in a hospital bed like you in a few weeks having my DBS battery finally changed. After much badgering with the politics that exist in healthcare when you have a non FDA approved device.

Hi everyone and Happy New Year to us all!
What a great idea this is, to have a central location for viewing videos and for reading comments about them. I'm excited about it and anxious for it to get off the ground. I have some movement disorder AVI files to share, but I need instruction on how and where exactly to share them. I don't really understand what is meant by my video LINK...??
Thanks for any assistance!

Hi Connie,

On the videos of your feet, if you go to UTube cut and copy both the URL and EMBED codes that you'll find on the right hand side of the page. The URL is the LINK.

On the AVI files, are those on line ??? If they are you can post the link or URL to them. If they aren't online you can try and upload them to your UTube account and post them here that way.

Thanks for starting this thread Beka, I started one very similar to this on myspace to serve as an open discussion about videos ... but I never got any response from it :(

If you need more help, please feel free to ask, this includes you too Marie :)

Beka This is a great idea and if I was more computer savvy I would love to be able to do what Robin has done, maybe I'll try and get my son to help me with this. Thorns

Hi Thorns,

I used Windows Movie Maker which comes with at least Windows XP that I know of ... you can search your computer to see if you have it on yours. It is a very easy and simple program to use. I'd be more then willing to help you in any way I can so please do not hesitate to ask. Also you can always do a google search for "windows movie maker tutorial" You can learn a lot from tutorials, no matter what the subject.

Luvs LuLu wanted to do a video so I had her send me all her pics etc that she wanted to include and then I uploaded them to my movie maker and created the video for her then I had her give me her UTube password and I went and uploaded it to her account from my computer. The hard work is in compiling it, it takes but a few minutes for me to go in and drag and drop everything into the video once it's all layed out.

I haven't uploaded any videos to YouTube but I have some experience with camcorders and burning dvds. Making a video, editing it and getting it uploaded could be a daunting task and there is a sizable learning curve involved. Folks should not allow that to put them off the idea though and there are a lot of help faqs on the Net. The three areas that have to be mastered are: 1- choosing the video capture device and getting the video into the computer, 2-Editing the video and 3-uploading it. The easiest capture device to use is a webcam and many notebook pcs have one built in. For editing everyone seems to agree that the Windows Moviemaker is the one to use especially as it comes free with XP and Vista. The actual upload of the file to YouTube should be straightforward and the guides on the YouTube site are excellent. I could help anyone with technical problems but when it comes to matters of creativity and production I would be useless :)

Well done. Great job. Thanks. Two typos you may, or may not, care about: the words "prevalent," and "diseases".
