You can see the decks Jack, Bob and Marie presented at the FDA hearings over at the WEGO Health blog. We're also looking to get video recordings of each day's presentations. I'll be sure to link to it once it's available.

You might consider being alarmed about the 52 million 'informal family caregivers'. They provide $362 Billion in free healthcare to family - and 80% of services that should be classified as health care for free. A disproportionately high number of these caregivers experience a reduction in working hours, or lose their jobs (and healthcare insurance) at a time they are under physical and mental stress caring for someone else. All of this outcry about socialism and needing to tie the insurance industry into the healthcare debate is ignoring a very large elephant in the room. "uninsured population" doesn't even begin to describe the mess. What we need to worry about is the growing number of elderly and disabled who require support from family - the only system would collapse if family members did not take responsibility, and yet we quibble about giving these folks 'free' healthcare. It is a lengthy subject and I will start a group on the issue, but thought I should raise this point as it is often overlooked in the debates.

I recently worled for a large pharma company in medical education. I follow public policy in order to better educate myself and others. My main concern is the uninsured population and what is being done to help them.

MotherSchaffer, I'd be interested to hear your point of view as this community takes shape and form. Please keep talking as you see things that pop up - it's going to be interesting to have an "insider's view" as we go along! ~Sarah

I most recently worked for a small pharma company in marketing. I'm very aware of regulatory process and reporting of adverse events. Will be interesting to see how regulations evolve to include social media.
