WEGO Health

I read and two mental health blogs regularly that I wanted to share with ya’ll! Please feel free to share any mental health blogs you read in this thread!

Master of Irony - “I am a mentally ill healthcare worker. Sometimes I’m a mentally ill person treating mentally ill people. I have severe bipolar 1 with many mixed episodes each year and medication resistance. My life is never boring.” I read Master of Irony because of her candidness with her own bipolar disorder. MoI works as a health care provider and lives a medicated lifestyle. She writes candidly about her own struggles, both personally and professionally and she’s so honest I’m envious of her. She has been incredibly helpful when I’ve had mental health questions and knows her stuff! If you’re interested in checking out how a bipolar health care professional lives, I definitely recommend you check out her blog!

Mental Health Notes - “My goal with Mental Health Notes is to keep you up-to-date with the latest news in mental health, provide my solicited - and very often unsolicited - opinions on mental health issues and offer you a place to ante up your own.” I read Mental Health Notes daily. Alicia is a fantastic writer and shares news, asks for opinions, offers advice and even writes out memes when they’re appropriate! I enjoy reading her views on mental health news and am even normally pretty good about leaving comments! (Which is rare for most blogs I read!)

Well I am going to give a plug to my blog if that is OK! Basically it is summaries of lots of journal articles and peer-reviewed research from journals and the Web. I write easy-to-read summaries and all the posts are indexed so you can find lots of different posts on the same issue. You can also email posts to yourself or friends. It has been going since 2005 and a lot of health libraries in the UK link to it. I get no money for the blog myself and have no links, and accept no advertising from, drug companies or private health-care providers.

The URL is

Thanks for the link, John! I am excited to see a new face in the WEGO Health community and knowing that you have a passion for mental health excites me even more. While I mainly focus on women's health, women's mental health is a big part of my interest.

I read a few of your entries and am very impressed with your "translations". Thank you for being willing to do this tough job for those of us who aren't medically trained and can't always understand doctors (or statisticians!) words/logic! I have added your blog to my list of resources for entries and I'm sure that I'll be linking back to it when appropriate.

Thanks again!!!
