I am very new to WEGO and to the Migraine group.

I started suffering from migraines about 5 years ago and have tried many treatments. My migraines are triggered by my hormones but are also influenced by stress and dehydration (and sadly... wine). I've only had to have an emergency pain shot once but it was no fun!

I'm always looking for alternative remedies (and have been encouraged to try acupuncture) but haven't found anything yet.

I'm here to find out what others have found successful and to just be included in a group that understands.

Susan

Hello - I'm new to WEGO and this Migraine group, but have been a Migraineur since about the age of six. I try to gather as much information about Migraines and will share when I can. I have many triggers and have to limit my computer time after work especially after being on a couple of computers all day long. I look forward to meeting many of the WEGO members.

Welcome to Susan M and MigrainePuppet - I think you'll find you have much in common with other Migraine Health Activists, and I'm so glad to meet you!

Hi!! It's so nice to meet others who understand the pain of a migraine!!
I had headaches right after my Mom died in 1984, but they stopped until probably three years ago. They have gotten progressively worse. I was just seeing my family physician until June and that's when I had my first MRI and she recommended I go to a neurologist. I've seen him three or four times, tried topomax...which I would tell anyone DON'T!!! I couldn't remember my name!!! We really think my biggest trigger is stress, but the weather seems to play a big factor as well. I've worked at my job, which I love, for 34 years but things have changed and it is really intense and shouldn't be.
Last week I went for my first chiropractic session, because along with the headache I have an intense pain at the base of my head, in my neck and down into my right shoulder blade. It was really quite nice, and I hope maybe this will loosen me up, and who knows, maybe help relieve some stress and headaches. I missed an entire week of work week before last and so I'm ready to try anything. I look forward to reading about what others have tried and are doing to avoid getting these horrible headaches. Nice to meet you all!! Syl

Hi Syl - it's great to see you here! It's great to have you joining our group - it sounds like you'll fit in very nicely. :)

I'm so sorry you didn't get a better response with the Topamax. It seems to be a drug that people are pretty passionate about one way or the other. It really changes some Migraineur's lives for the better, but those who have problems with it seem to be just as passionate about it being something they don't recommend.

Do you have a blog here on WEGO Health, a twitter account, Facebook or a blog etc that you'd like to share with us? This discussion is a great place to connect with others by sharing yoru links with us all.
