A few weeks ago I asked the question How fertile is too fertile? [and encouraged] Health Activists talk .... Today I stumbled upon another article questioning Are some women super-breeders? Some of the comments that were left are very insightful and some of them are downright rude. While I can't say for sure, I don't know that many of the comment contributors were Health Activists, and so I wanted to bring both articles into a discussion here at WEGO Health.

We have Nadya Suleman, otherwise known as "Octo-Mom" - a woman who used IVF therapy to produce eight more children on top of the six she previously had. She lives with her parents and has stated she plans on using whatever methods she can to support herself. A mother who has also clearly stated that she regrets her multiple births.

Then we have The Duggar family - a self-sufficient family of 21 (nineteen children, one of who is married and has their own child now) who not only raise their own animals, but shop thriftily and do their own home education. This family built their own 7,000 square foot home and are joyous at the impending birth of their 19th child.

Do you feel the same about both families? Probably not. But why?
What is it about the two different families that you can support?
What is it about the two different families that you cannot support?

Are people in your other health communities talking about women who are having multiple children like this?
Do you consider either family's choice in child-bearing excessive? Why or why not?
