If you want to find out more about insomnia try visiting www.pulse-learning.co.uk This learning website provides health-related modules which cover a wide range of clinical, practice business and comissioning topics. Key questions which are asked about insomnia are answered by Doctors and GP's, hope this is useful!

SweetOceanBlue - there is a lot of information and advice on bipolar disorder and depression if you would like to research more about that on www.pulse-learning.co.uk as well. Hope it helps! any questions are welcome and i'll get back to you as soon as possible.

I have been taking Zolpidem or Lunista (every other month) since 2003

I quit a while ago,(no withdraws)  I still take them once in a while, but I am still high the next day. The Prograf and Celcept keep us awake.Study=

SweetOceanBlue - multiple doctors have told me that I could take zolpidem 2 times a week without becoming dependent on it. I'm not sure if that is an option for you, but thought I'd share since you mentioned not wanting to be dependent.

My name is Michelle, and I've been dealing with Insomnia for such a long time..as I recall since I was dx with Bipolar Disorder. It's very frustrating to deal with. Of course I've taken various sleeping agents that were prescribed by my doctor, also did a sleep study. To no avail I just can't sleep. Several weeks ago I went to my Psychiatrist and she gave me a script for Zolpidem 10mg, and it does help..although I hate to be dependant upon this type of medication. Although it works so far I still have trouble resting...

I can't begin to imagine how tiring it must be to wake up 31 times an hour..

Ive just realised that i haven't replied as to the results!!! I do NOT have sleep apnea. However i wake up approx 31 times an hr which is why I am so tired. The sleep/lung dr believes that due to the neuromuscular nature of the rest of my conditions (dystonia and probable mitochondrial disease) and severe respiratory muscle weakness he believes that one day i will need breathing support of some kind while i am sleeping and eventually possibly also during the day as it is a degenerative condition. he believes the best thing to do is to is to monitor the situation carefully repeating the sleep test/lung testing/MIP and MEP testing every 12 months also to see how it changes thats all we can do for now....

Seems like I've found people who take sleep seriously, good!

I have been having trouble going to sleep. I’d like to know what other people are doing and what’s effective (or not) for you.

I have 5 Questions about How You Sleep. If you could share and shed some light, please chime in my blog’s comments for answers. Thanks!

Hi Erin, that must be tough! I haven't been on a sleep study before. I'm not sure if i'd like that now. Have you gotten your results?
