WEGO Health

Just like with foods, your makeup can expire. Did you know that? Do you know the best methods to keep your makeup (and therefore your face) germ-free? It's actually pretty easy, and not only was I able to share how to safely use cosmetics but makeupjunkie has a great post (thanks Janeen!) linked about makeup safety tips - when it's time to hit the can.

One of the main conversations in the original blog post is about cleaning our makeup brushes. A CBS article (When Your Cosmetics Expire) gives a great explanation of when and how to clean your makeup brushes to keep them at their peak.

"Oils and bacteria get trapped in the bristles of the brushes. Wash natural-bristled brushes once a month, and synthetic brushes three to four times a month. Lay the brushes flat to dry so that the bristles don't break, and to maintain the shape of the brushes. There are brush cleansers out there, but you can also use mild soap. You may also use baby shampoo to wash your brushes."

Feel free to join our discussion here or on the original blog post if you have makeup cleanliness tips you'd like to share!
