OUR GOAL
Improved Health Status of the people of Buikwe Community
Purpose/Overall Objective
To reduce malaria related morbidity and mortality among the poor populations of Buikwe Parish, specifically targeting children under five years and pregnant women.
1. To increase LLITNs coverage among children under five and pregnant women among the poor populations of Buikwe Parish
2. Strengthen community capacity to recognize the signs and symptoms of severe malaria
3. Implement home-based management of malaria in combination with strengthened diagnostic services
4. To strengthen partnerships to expand the project to cover the farther parishes of Buikwe Sub-county
Key Outputs
CORE AREA 1: LLITNS COVERAGE
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:
To increase LLITNs coverage among children under five and pregnant women among the poor populations of Buikwe Parish
KEY ACTIVITIES
1. No. of children under five years in Buikwe Parish sleeping under mosquito nets
2. No. of women in target areas sleeping under treated nets
CORE AREA 3: SYMPTOMS OF SEVERE MALARIA
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:
Strengthen community capacity to recognize the signs and symptoms of severe malaria
KEY ACTIVITIES
1. % of community members able to correctly identify the signs and symptoms of malaria, routes of transmission and methods of blocking transmission at community level
CORE AREA 4: HOME-BASED MANAGEMENT OF MALARIA
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:
Implement home-based management of malaria in combination with strengthened diagnostic services
KEY ACTIVITIES
1. % of children under five accessing appropriate treatment and accurate diagnostic services for malaria within 24 hours at onset of fever
CORE AREA 5: NETWORKING
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:
To strengthen partnerships to expand the project to cover the farther parishes of Buikwe Sub-county
KEY ACTIVITIES
1 Communication materials accepted for wide use in the area
