Hi Immundude, I also take 1000 iu of Vit. D, 1000 mg fish oil and a multi vit. Unfortunately I don't always remember to take these things!! I know I'd be better off if I did. I try to get enough sleep but lately insomnia has been plaguing me so I'...

The cough and cold always get my son wheezing. Make sure to drink lots of fluids and get rest too (even though you are in college). More "mom" advice :)

Traveling with diabetes: plan ahead for a safe holiday travel time

Yesterday I wrote a post about traveling safely with asthma during this holiday season. But asthma and allergies aren't the only concerns that people have during this season. What about type 1 diabetes? Traveling and the holidays don't need to be stressful and no ones health needs to suffer. With some careful planning everyone can have a happy, healthy holiday.

So what can you do to travel safely with type 1… Continue

Asthma Bloggers: Share your tips for safe holiday travel

Over the river and through the woods can be a wonderful adventure, unless you suffer from asthma. Once you leave your safe, comfortable environment, triggers may lurk all around you.

Last year I wrote Surviving the holidays with allergies. Many of these suggestions also apply to asthma sufferers.

1. Know your triggers and try to avoid. If pets are your trigger, you may need to avoid a home that has pets.… Continue

The holidays are coming! Does your blog suffer during the holidays?

My blog has already suffered. There just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to get EVERYTHING done. With Thanksgiving next week and Christmas (or Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Kwanza) right around the corner, I'm busy and my blog is the first thing that suffers. Something's got to give, right? Or does it....

This time of year is stressful for most people. And if you are suffering from an illness or disease or love someone that… Continue

Tomorrow is World Diabetes Day

November 14, 2009 is World Diabetes Day. What is World Diabetes Day? It's celebrated in over 160 countries and this years theme is "prevention and education".

What can you do to support those with diabetes and get the word out?:

1. Go blue. This suggestion may be a bit extreme, but you can wear blue tomorrow (as little or as much as you want) to support those with diabetes.

2.… Continue

Allergic rhinitis and asthma: Does allergic rhinitis increase the risk of asthma?

While reading this article by Medical News Today today I came across an interesting statement and one that holds very true for my son: "'Allergic rhinitis has been shown to increase the risk of asthma three-fold, and investigators found that when rhinitis began in the first year of life, the development of asthma by age 6 was twice as high as when it started after the first year,' Dr. Pawankar said".

Really… Continue

Thanks for the comment! I'm sorry to say I haven't been keeping up with Wego as much as I would like; HealthCare PSI seems to be gaining momentum and taking on a life of its own and I'm running as fast as I can just to keep up!

The survey was interesting, wasn't it. Confirmed my suspicions about confusing media coverage. I don't know if the message is muddy on purpose, or just from a lack of planning, but it certainly has been confusing!

Have a grand week -
