More about me (my health interests and reasons for joining WEGO Health)
I am a science, sustainability and health enthusiast living in a charming - yet rugged - Mississippi River town in Minnesota. Growing up I tagged along with my father as he studied fish, herpetofauna and plant communities around the Midwest. As a little girl, I aspired to become a biologist and as I grew up became involved in a myriad of research activities in addition to local conservation organizations. Along with field biology, I came to enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities like camping, backpacking, hiking, road biking and mountain biking. I recently completed my Master's degree from Texas A&M University where I studied the evolutionary ecology of cichlids. In addition to ecological research and evolutionary studies, I am insatiably curious about environmental wellness and health. As an expert for WEGO Health I aim to investigate issues that connect sustainable living with healthy living. I am committed to researching the best, most up-to-date news and information on issues including wellness, diet and fitness. When not happily absorbed in my writing and researching for WEGO Health, you might find me working out, with my nose in a book, on an aimless road trip or trying to help my incredibly patient fiance restore our hundred year-old fixer-upper.

Say "adios" to overindulgence!

It's Saturday. Like millions of my fellow Americans, I'm looking forward to a relaxing evening out - including a nice dinner and a few glasses of wine. But wait. This recent study has me second-guessing my Saturday night.

The article explains how individuals that are genetically predisposed to developing Alzheimer's are more likely to d… Continue
