Why I Chose to Disclose about Rheumatoid Arthritis

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 6:00am 2 Comments

There was not one day when I decided what I would disclose about my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I think most of my life and medical situation still do remain private, even though I am public about RA. It’s good to point out that we can be selective about what is public. That said, this is a…

My Entry for December Blog Carnival: Top 10 of 2010!

Posted on December 30, 2010 at 4:30pm 8 Comments

Thanks to Marie for really making me think hard about what were important milestones in 2010. It is good exercise for the mind to prioritize and categorize events. Also, it’s very useful when planning for the future. I’m glad I did it and I hope it helps someone else.…

Thanks Kelly! Its really easy! Under your photo on your page there is hyperlinked text for "my page" next to "manage". Once you click that it will bring you to a home page. Under the "appearance" headline choose "appearance" and that will bring you to yet another page from where you will be able to choose a theme. There's a lot of great ones I've yet to explore. On a side note, I've really been enjoying your blog posts. You're doing an amazing job and I look forward to reading more!

Kelly:

Many commercial organizations in the field of health care will seek to position themselves and their staff by giving them titles like "Health Advocate" or "Director of Advocacy" or similar. These are not qualifications. They are just titles. I am not aware of any formal educational qualifications that would make someone a health advocate or a patient advocate. However, one could certainly get a masters in public health (MPH) with a focus on such topics.

I see Amy and Susan have met you as well. Any of the three of us can help you figure the site out. As for discussions, when you go to the Autoimmune group, there is a Discussion box. At the bottom it says Start Discussion. Hit the button and away you go! If you see a discussion you wish to comment on, there is a reply box below the text. Same with blog posts. To create a blog post that will show up on the group's main page, use the tag "autoimmune".

Hi Kelly!
Welcome to the Twitter for Health Activism group. I hope you find it a great place to connect with others, to share resources and work together to make the most use out of Twitter as health activists.
I look forward to connecting with you here, I'm already following you on Twitter! =)
Please feel free to add to the discussions and introduce yourself in the group.
Wellness wishes,

Hi Kelly!

Thanks again for taking the time to comment on my blog post - Do you and your Rheumatologist disagree on the severity of your disease?

I so enjoy following you on Twitter and stepping in to read your blog when I can. When I think of my favorite Autoimmune Health Activists, you are one of my tops! Thank you so much for all that you do.

I see you have jumped right in and joined 3 of our communities. I hope you'll also consider joining our Autoimmune Diseases group too. We have several RA patients there, and I know you've been an active Health Activist so long you probably have a lot you can show us about successful advocacy and awareness. Here is the introduction thread. Feel free to include any links there so other HA's can easily find and read your work.

Cheers!

Hi Kelly! Thanks for joining our community. We've added you as a Featured Health Activist on our home page (www.wegohealth.com) based on the recommendation of one of your fellow Health Activists! We hope you'll stop by to check it out and let everyone you've been featured.
