by the way....I new I was forgetting something....
Bill and I (as you probably know) have dinner with those drug reps each week...just because a drug is 'new' does not mean it is better...sometime it does, but not always. The TV tries to get you to believe that so you spend 7 dollars a pill and then 3 years later comes and they have 10 generics for that and the price drops to 10 cents a pill..then they put a 'NEW DRUG' that is 'as they put it' so much better......it is CRAP....then they can charge you the 7 dollars a pill again for 'the new drug' IT IS A MONEY MAKING MACHINE!!!!
I give you an example....imitrex came out in the mid 90s by GSK...well now they have this new drug called Treximet. As a customer you would think this new migraine drug (they are called triptans) would be soooooo much better. The drug is imitrex and aleve combined! No I am not sh__ing you! The drug is around 7 dollars a pill. Now they did do something, it pushes in the imitrex faster and then they aleve takes over. But, it was cheaper this way, instead of making a brand new triptan. But they are marketing as such! No one (except for a few) knows the difference!
So when trying drugs...some that have been out 20 years are better than the new....and we truly know the side effects of the older drugs! Both are good don't get me wrong, but don't be fooled by the 'MONEY MAKING MACHINE.'
I know this will hit your e-mail, try metformin (generic called tabetivx, but it goes by metformin) it is a drug used for people with Dia.2 and it truly reduces hunger, I AM NOT KIDDING! It does not make you sick, it just, turns that off it your head!!!!(you can have up to 2500mg each day) You should eat less carbs with it, but a few are alright. It also helps people before dia.2. As you probably know, they will try to give you drugs that make you hungry....don't let them. Metformin got my system strait... Some of my migraine drugs messed my system up. The metformin did wonders and no side effects. It helps to drop weight and that helps you not go full blown dia2 and/or get out of it! Most doc's will not tell you that BUT IT IS TRUE!
The feet thing....ick ouch....hmmm....let me think and ask!
By the way, just to help you navigate this forum....neuropathy is...how shall I put this....well not a lamens terms...I know that sounds bad. I am sure you want others to give you advise, don't use that type of word....use a term that..hmmm...use a sentence to explain! Also, reply to dia.2 people for what they ask for....then they will follow you and what you write...just go to their page say hi and that you are new and most will respond. This is a really good forum when it is navigated correctly.
The feet thing...you know that is scary. Like I said I can find out.
Also fill out the entire thing about who you are on here, more people will be more helpful when they see a person. People like to show pictures here, if not of yourself the dogs. A lot of people here talk on the phone with others so, it really is not the 'typical' hiding behind a computer screen like some forums. They want to know who or sort of who they are talking with.
About the language, most with dia. 2 don't deal with it until they are actually losing their feet. That is why the language can't be at that level. It is not like migraine disease.(with my crap you are in the doctors all the time, so people pick up the lingo, but Bill sees people everyday that WILL NOT LISTEN TO HIM TO GET HEALTHY UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE, that is why the language is not where yours is at....hope that makes sense) You may know the doctors lingo..but other probably will not.
If you have a web site put it up...but that is your e-mail and people will click on that and think they are going to a website. They have a long thing to fill out when you log in. It does help.
you can get support and info, it is just navigating it a certain way.
More about me (my health interests and reasons for joining WEGO Health)
I am a 56 year old female, single mom. My daughter is now married, but I have "2 Kids", my dogs, Meisha and Yasha. I worked for the Auto Club for 33 years until they fired me. They felt I didn't know how to do my job! I've tried different things, but now I am in Sales, new and struggling, but I have given my self 1 year to get this right! Speaking of right.....I am a Regan Conservative & love my Country very much!! In my forties, I was diagnosed as Pre-Diabetic. I really did not do much to improve my health. Now I have full blown diabetes. I take Metformin 500 mg 2x a day. I was in a blind diabetes study for 18 months but that never helped me. I may have been taking a placebo...I still don't know. They even took pieces of my skin 4 different times on my leg and thigh. This was also required of the study. I join the study because of the neuropathy (pain, tingling and burning) to my feet. It has now worked its way half way up my legs and I can not find any releif whatsoever!!!! There is a machine that I found on the internet, called the "Rebuilder". It is opposite a Tens Unit and is supposed to hep reestablish blood flow to the nerves. I may try that.....I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried the "Rebuilder" You can google "The Rebuilder" and read all about it! Any suggestions would be most appreciative!
