More about me (my health interests and reasons for joining WEGO Health)
One of the main attractions of WEGO Health, in my mind, is the way we empower health advocates.

A few years ago, my family struggled to support my grandmother through a challenging diagnosis, surgery and recovery. What they needed most at that time was information and support. They needed advice on how to work with the different doctors and hospitals involved in my grandmother's care because she couldn't do that for herself. I think WEGO Health would have been a great resource for my family in that time, so I'm very excited to play a part in helping other families and health advocates find the information and support that they need now.

Spotlight: Tosin Ola, Sickle Cell Warrior (Part 2)

If you missed the first part of our interview with Tosin, take a minute to get caught up here.

Who are your heroes in the Sickle Cell Disease Community?
Okay…this is not in any particular order. The first hero that comes to mind is every sickle cell warrior out there, daily living with pain and struggling to live their lives and make a difference in this world. I applaud… Continue

Could Clinical Trials become a thing of the past? Ask Archimedes

As I finished reading Jennifer Kahn's article, "Modeling Human Drug Trials - Without the Human", at my kitchen table this morning, I couldn't help but think: Health Activists need to know about this.

Kahn's article is about a computer model called Archimedes, and its creator, David Eddy.

I strongly encourage you to read the whole thing, but the gist of it is this: Eddy has translated much of what we… Continue

Thanks so much! Yes, RL sort of bit me in the behind there, unfortunately. Hopefully I can get involved this time, instead of sending lots of good intentions without following through!

Thanks, Marie. I'll be sure to check it out. I'm always on the lookout for new info and people who understand what it is like to look in the mirror and see "the look" of chronic pain instead of the spark that used to be there.

Hello Marie,

Thanks for the quiz link and invitation. Unfortunately I will be unavailable between 12pm and 1pm on Thursday. The quiz was helpful though, it looks like I'm a librarian! I find the WEGO and its members very interesting and look for word to working together in the future.

Thanks again,

Thanks for the welcome! I would be delighted to contribute content on hypnotherapy - any advice on how to get started? I admit, I am entirely fascinated about/passionate about the topic :)

Thank you very much for the lovely comment. :) The Reiki post was ... tricky. I don't like to close the door on a concept or treatment without evidence, especially if it does not (or little) harm. Normally I would not have said anything, but the comments at the other blogpost were so nasty, it just cried out for balance. :)
