Thanks, Tahoe. When you was not sleeping the longest was only two-three days and it only happened once back in 1968---it was a nightmare of paranoia and hallucinations.

My BPD Story: In Instalments

AN ACCOUNT OF MY BIPOLAR DISORDER

A 66 YEAR CONTEXT: October 1943 To March 2009

BY

RON PRICE: George Town Tasmania Australia
(84 Pages: Font 14—32,000 words)

1. Preamble and Introduction:

1.1 This is a longitudinal, retrospective account going back to my conception in October 1943. I make reference to a genetic predisposition to bipolar disorder(BPD) due to a family history of affective disorder in a first-degree relative, my mother(1904-1978). She had BPD, although her disability was never… Continue

Hi Ron!
Nice to make your acquaintance...I look forward to sharing information, resources and perspectives here. I noticed you are actively involved in the mental health area and I have a great interest in this topic personally as well as an activist/advocate.
Best wishes,
Amy K

Welcome to WEGO Health, RonPrice. What brings you to our community of Health activists? We have a myriad of health-centered groups that I encourage you to check out!

Normally I encourage members to join the Women's Health group (since that's where I'm most active!), but for you, I'd suggest the Men's Health group instead! We're always looking for male health activists to jump in and share their knowledge, so I encourage you to do just that!

The Chronic Pain group is also another active group where we talk about general chronic pain, specific chronic pain, and anything else pain-wise that comes up. I'm active over there and enjoy the people I've gotten to know withing the group!

The Healthy Living group is essentially what it sounds like. We're looking to up the activity level there, so if you ever feel like sharing some healthy living tips, jump right in over there!

Another thing that WEGO Health on Ning offers is a slew of active bloggers. We talk about everything from personal issues (I recently posted about recovery from an umbilical hernia surgery) to news updates surrounding health care (Ellen shared some great news about the national pain care policy act).

One of my favorite parts about the community, though, is the continually active Spotlight Interviews that we do with Health Activists. Just recently we've reached out to women dealing with fertility issues and in the past we've talked about general healthy living and living with chronic migraines.

If you ever have any questions about what goes on at WEGO Health, please feel free to drop me a line, I'd love to be of help! I hope to see you around and get to know you better!

Be well,
Sarah
