More about me (my health interests and reasons for joining WEGO Health)
I'm Sarah, a late 20-something woman learning to make the best cup of coffee (mmmm, tasty caffeinated antioxidants!). I am a public health educator (teaching high school students in the Bay Area) by day and a superhero by night. Okay, well, not really, I mostly do health research, email Marie and Susan and listen to the TV. I live with a arthritis-like condition called ankylosing spondylitis and love hot bubble baths even though they're not great for my joints. I am a Twitter addict as well as a active blogger. My toes are always cold and I don't really mind it.

I have a BA in German (from Oregon State University) and in Community Health Education (from Portland State University). My ultimate goal would be to educate the health educators but in the meantime I do a lot of reading on women's health, HIV/AIDS and childhood poverty. I am passionate about working towards improved health conditions for women and children of both the United States and globally through education.

Hi Sarah,

For such a rare Auto Immune, a lot of us sure suffer. Feel free to join us on the Forum of my site at http://www.rhnegativeregistry.com/Ankylosing_Spondylitis_Forum_Autoimmune_HLA-B27_RH.html and bookmark it, as I am compiling more research to add to the site! Good to meet you online and know that we are not alone in this fight!

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for the heads up! I just completed the quiz. Turns out, I'm a broadcaster, hehe. I guess I can't shut up about things I care about. I'm actually all over the Bay Area, not just the East Bay. I run the ICD User Group, which is a patient group for people living with implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). We meet once a month at different Bay Area locations. Over 10,000 ICDs are implanted in the US every month and a lot of new patients aren't even aware of the different types and brands of devices. My goal is to change that.

You can confidently tell "your bosses" that the Bay Area is definitely the next meet-up spot.

Sarah...I just wanted you to know that your monkey chatter reached me deep in the jungle where I was teaching my little one's to forage for plants of ALL kinds. You know we do love "greens...like leaves, etc." and nuts too. After all, there's only so many bananas to go around and we need a rainbow of colors to have all the energy we use.......excuse me for going on and on....I can't help myself....Anyway, thank you for the invite and I will join the Women's Health Group as well! Thanks for the joyful, playful invite!

Thank you Sarah for the sweet comment! I will continue to post and be as active as I can. I am in the hospital and don't know how long I will be here. I am at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.I am having surgery tomorrow to remove an infected central line and then hopefullybe evaluated by a spinal specialist for a screw that is encroaching on the spinal canal. I do have internet access and can get in here but not Facebook. I will keep in touch!
