Prenatal vitamins: Why We Love Them - and Hate Them

We all know that prenatal vitamins are good for you - whether you have already conceived or are trying to conceive. Most prenatal vitamins are full of folic acid, a baby must, as well as other goodies that serve you above and beyond your normal multivitamin.

Why we love prenatal vitamins:

Hair. Thick, full and shinning hair! For those of us who normally have pretty fine hair this is a major… Continue

Congratulations you're pregnant! There are more than enough questions swimming through your mind at the moment - and if you're a working gal, then those questions also include:

- When should you tell your boss?

- When should you tell your coworkers?

- What next steps should to be taken once the information is public?

When during your pregnancy you tell your employer might depends on the type of work that you do. Does it involve heavy… Continue

More about me (my health interests and reasons for joining WEGO Health)
Hello, I'm Vanessa and am one of the Community Leaders here at WEGO Health. What can I do to support you, because let's face it without you, our community, WEGO Health wouldn't be nearly as amazing - or fun!

Me, I crave balance, creativity and meditative moments. Nothing makes me happier then good sushi, great wine and even better company. I love music - and have an ever growing list of favorites. Traveling is my release: whether it’s up the street or across the globe. I’m open to life, the pursuit of understanding and the slightest opportunity to simply be.

I firmly believe that:

Thanks for the welcome Amy and Vanessa,

I found this group suggested by Amy, though the chronic pain group.

I have been severely ill since Aug 2008. Have dystonic and mycolonic movements. Wasted a year with Neuros. Until finally seeing other specialists at my request to my GP.
Have been given a dx of Colitis, Severe Vit D Deficiency and most
recently am waiting on a Fibro dx.

I see the Rheumatologist Dec 15. And he has said he's very likely going to give a dx of Fibro. I had looked into many conditions since Aug 08. I never considered Fibro and it was never suggested to me.
But as I am learning more about it, I am coming to recognize myself in the symptoms.

I have become very disabled. I currently use a wheel chair about 95% of the time to leave the house. For very short distances...eg from car to door....I use crutches.
I was having non stop pain all over my body. I couldn't get into my own bed. Or lift myself off of the couch.
But now I'm on long acting , long term pain meds and am feeling a lot better.

I was going to private physio while I was on a hospital waiting list. They said they were not equipped to deal with someone in my condition.
Now I go to the hospital 2 x a week until they can build up my strength. Then it will increase to 3 x.
The physio brings on the movement episodes. So my therapist is having me reassessed at the hospital.

I plan to work hard at gaining back some of my life. I've been told I'll always have to do physio to some degree. But as long as it gives me some hope, than I will do it.

Thanks again for the welcome. : )

Hi Vanessa -

You're very welcome! It was as much a pleasure for me as I hope it was for the others.

I've been out of touch for several days and only just now got your note. I know a little bit about COCs and ovarian cysts, but want to do a little more homework before I comment. So I want to make sure you didn't feel ignored! And I'll dig up as much as I can.

Warmly,
dindin

HI
Thanks for the welcome Vanessa. I'm not sure how this group works...so I don't know where I should begin.
I've been ill for a year now. Briefly..... Began with movements, which are so severe they resemble a seizure. Vit D deficiency. Parathyroid is high. But calcium is normal. Today the Dr says red blood count is high. And I have a Vit B 12 deficiency.
