Wow DK, this is such a sad story. And unfortunately one that is not all that uncommon. My heart goes out to the mother and the family of the girl that died. I hope the work the mother is doing can make a difference. Just last week my sister in laws…

Great post on Healthcare PSI. I'm a little discouraged by this whole process. I have no understanding of the bill, I just see all the positioning by different members of congress and can't comprehend why this process is so difficult. There's got to…

Safe Work Hours, Safe Patients

A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to participate in the launch of a national safety campaign aimed at improving the training young phycisians receive during their residency. The campaign is called Safe Work Hours, Safe Patients and the national website went live today. I invite you to take a minute to visit the website and read the petition. It's self-explanitory, quite simple and every signature is very much appreciated!

HAI News

Seems like the subject of Hospital Acquired Infections pops up every week on the news wires and, like the infections themselves, just doesn't seem to go away. The Joint Commission would have us believe this is a complicated issue. I find that insulting. This isn't complicated; it's a matter of diligence. How Do You Choose Your Focus?

Patient safety and healthcare are such massive, multi-layered subjects that sometimes I find it's easy to get swamped, especially when barraged with so much information.

The problems are so massive - whether it's a disease or health condition, patient safety, insurance regulation, tort reform battles, consumer awareness or any one of a thousand other topics - that sometimes it's hard to know what little piece of territory you're going to stake out and put your mark on as a health activist.

Good News in the War on MRSA

Hello Wego Health Activists!

Thought I'd start the new year with some GOOD healthcare news for a change. This concerns MRSA - the dreaded super-bug that thrives in hospitals and kills tens of thousands of people every year, mostly because it is resistant to drugs. One country has made a breakthrough on MRSA. Click here to read today's HealthCare PSI Blog post.

As always, thanks for reading. And may 2010 bring you peace, prosperity and g… Continue

Thank you for the well-wishes. You're the best! ((Hugs)) Lots of firsts this year - first Thanksgiving without him, first Christmas without him. First trip back home without him. Thank you so for your understanding. I thought about the neat video again last night with smiles and a chuckle (I'm from near Portland) and passed it along.

Hi Dk,
Thanks for connecting.
Living in the present moment.... Living life in the NOW!
People tend to live life, fearful of their future or inhibited by their past. It is possible, even through life altering events to find peace in the moment that you are in. It is the only true moment we have!
Stay Present!

Welcome to WEGO Health, Dk! So glad that you've found us, as it sounds like you are a true Health Activist. I'm sorry to hear that you've been a victim of hospital negligence, but am glad that you're reaching out to educate others on the fact that it DOES happen.

If you ever have any questions about what goes on at WEGO Health, please let me know; I'd love to help if needed.

Looking forward to getting to know you,

Sarah
