Short but sweet post, DK! Thanks for sharing the grades - I'm new to my area (Berkeley) and so being able to see what hospitals in the area are ranked is good information for me!

Heads up, guys. HealthGrades new hospital ratings for Fall 2010 are out. The hospitals in my area did LOUSY, as usual, which is why I'm now bloggin' about patient safety. I've posted the link to the report here on the HealthCare PSI Blog. Hope you...

I thought this was such an interesting topic too. I wrote about it here. As someone who's always fascinated with women's rights and the inner-workings of the ad industry, I can't help but take a cynical view of this pink party. On one hand, I thi...

Certainly not government; healthcare's blunt end owns the government offices that are charged with oversite. I think public scrutiny is our only shot - and lots of it.

Well, I had hopes, but am now saddened by the apparent outcome. What do you think it's going to take to get this cleaned up?

Lies by Omission

Today I wrote this post on the common healthcare industry practice of not telling patients if they have been the victims of preventable medical errors. This is a hot button issue for me, and it should be for every activist here at Wego. It drives me crazy that, instead of taking steps to stop rampant preventable medical errors, hospitals have instead chosen to cover… Continue

Another Wrinkle at CS

If you've been following the CT scan radiation overdose story out of Cedars-Sinai, then this latest development is probably not new to you. For those who haven't heard, Cedars-Sinai subjected some 260 CT scan patients to dangerous levels of radiation over a period of 18 months. Seems everyone in the CT scan department failed to notice the machine was set incorrectly.

This week at least 50 of those patients were notified of yet another problem.… Continue

Am I Expecting Too Much?

I wrote a post today over on the HealthCare PSI Blog (also in my left sidebar here on Wego!) about the Joint Commission's latest greatest idea to combat H1N1 and other communicable germs. I was not impressed. However, I would love your take on this new initiative aimed at kids... today's kids, not kids from the 1950's. Okay, I've said enough. Just go read.

Combatting HAIs

I wrote a post today over on the HealthCare PSI Blog about the steps one US company has implemented to combat the deadly menace of HAIs (hospital acquired infections.) Kimberly-Clark, the maker of Huggies, Scott towels and a host of other household brands is leading the way in this battle and I thought you'd like to know about their new program. Hi Dk,
Thanks for connecting.
Living in the present moment.... Living life in the NOW!
People tend to live life, fearful of their future or inhibited by their past. It is possible, even through life altering events to find peace in the moment that you are in. It is the only true moment we have!
Stay Present!

Welcome to WEGO Health, Dk! So glad that you've found us, as it sounds like you are a true Health Activist. I'm sorry to hear that you've been a victim of hospital negligence, but am glad that you're reaching out to educate others on the fact that it DOES happen.

If you ever have any questions about what goes on at WEGO Health, please let me know; I'd love to help if needed.

Looking forward to getting to know you,

Sarah
