I had a steroid shot about 24 hours ago. The hives are back. I stopped taking Claritin expecting the steroids to hold off the symptoms for a few weeks. This morning I had to take another Claritin. What ayurvedic substances should I take while I await the doctor's office to open? I'm waiting for my wife to return from visiting friends in the big city. I'd really hate to be driving and have some throat swelling or something to make the driving difficult. I know that I have to watch the blood sugar…

I read about Urticaria here and it said that steroids are never the solution. Ooops! I should have read that before talking to the doctor.
The ayurvedic approach would certainly be the way to go if it would reduce the symptoms before I start getting the swelling in my throat - which has occurred a few times before. Can anyone suggest what ayurvedic ingredients have worked for them?
This is quite frustrating because I really don't have anywhere else to go. My wife will be coming back tonight. We could visit an allergist tomorrow. I'd still have to get an appointment andfigure out how to do all of that. (I'm not very good at waiting patiently while making the appointments while I'm in this scratchy state.) OK! No need to explain how "poor me" I'm feeling. I'm now not that convinced that my doctor will be able to help me. But, he might know where I could go to find an allergist within my locality.
I just thought I'd send out a smoke signal to those who have been here before and see if there's anything I could do while I wait for the doctor's office to open.
Thanks,
iggy
If you want to post on the message board (rather than sending everyone a message), you can click on this link and it will let you start a new discussion. If you want to look through the old discussions, I recommend going here and reading through these posts.
To add a picture, go to "My Page" (at the top of the screen) and on the lefthand side (probably under your cloud picture) it says "Change My Photo or Theme" and click on Photo. Then upload and enjoy!
Your suggestion for a newbie area was fantastic and I'm sure that Marie, Adrienne or Toni will see the idea and it could be a new thing in the near future!
If you have any more questions, drop me a line and I'll see if I can't answer 'em!
Once again, welcome to WEGOHealth!
I'll go and look around at the asthma and allergy board.
This situation is very upsetting because it may require me to move out of the area. I'm trying to keep calm and I'll be seeing a doctor this morning. I'll also check in to the type 1 diabetes blog and see if there's anything I can help with. I have collected a lot of information about this disease. I'm a bit of a skeptic and usually test out a theory upon myself before passing it on.
So, let's see what happens.
