Hi Rachel,
Honestly I can't imagine why your doctor would be discouraging you to not start a family. I do know people who have gone off meds to start a family and even people who just choose not to take any and just live with the CD. I don't know which meds would interfere with pregnancy, but that's something to check with your doctor and the pharmacy. But it's certainly worth taking the break from those that might have a warning to not use during pregnancy, and its a small price to pay for being able to start your family. I'd suggest you also go onto care4dystonia.org and there is a WEGO dystonia board which you can post your question and see if there are people on the board that that have had babies with CD. You can go to www.community.wegohealth.com/group/dystonia. As for any other questions you might have regarding dystonia, I'm your girl. I've been a patient advocate for nearly 20 years and can help especially with education and support. If you'd like you can also email me at nmuller406@aol.com.
