I I think while medical tourism or medical travel, is a reality , what is important for people who are opting to go abroad is that they must do a proper research before they venture out. Some of the research must include 1) the quality credentials...

It's always 'buyer beware' isn't it. I used to think this was craziness - don't we have the best medical care in the world here? If spending twice the amount to stay in the US is an option, I'll probably stay here if everything else is equal. Wh...

Thanks for the comment!

I hope that Indian hospitals are doing everything they can to support their citizens and provide healthcare before trying to attract/cater to US or European tourists. In fact, even though I think that tourists giving money to these hospitals and India in general is a good thing (tourism is a great money-maker) - I would not support foreign tourists taking healthcare away from resident citizens. Maybe you could explain this to me.

What is the difference between a regular hospital and a corporate hospital? Are they owned differently? Are only certain patients treated at the corporate hospital? I would hope Indian hospitals weren't trying to attract tourists over trying to take care of those that reside in nearby communities. That idea makes me nervous.

It would be great if you could explain this in a blog post - I'm sure others in the WEGO Health community would be interested in learning more about the healthcare system in India.

Also - I am sending you a message to your Inbox!

Slumdog Doctors from India gets busy with US medical Travellers

Lying in a hospital bed in Bangalore’s immaculate Wockhardt Hospital recuperating from a knee replacement surgery on his right knee, Les Seaver-Davis counts off on his fingers the number of times he has been in and out of hospitals back home in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Seven? Eight? He gives up after a few moments, pauses to survey his pristine room, and declares, “For the first time in my life, I feel like I’m cared for by the best people in the world.”
