amanda The Latest HIV/AIDS News

I can remember being taught about HIV/AIDS in elementary school. Though much of what we were told back then (in the early 90s) was incorrect and perhaps out of panic - it was the beginning of this very important conversation. A conversation that still needs to be vocalized and more widespread today. In 2009 we still have so many people who are unaware of their risks, unsure about being tested, and not actively protecting themselves and their loved ones. This is, in part, a fault of our so… Continue

Ellen S Migraine - Endometriosis. Connect the bulletpoints

Women, it's time for us to unite. Read the bullets below, then pass the word. Tell your mother, your daughter, your sister, your friends. Many of them are suffering in silence. Many don't even know why or what to do about their pain. *Women with Endometriosis are doubly likely to suffer Migraine than those without Endometriosis. 1/3rd vs. 15%. *The age at which those with Endometriosis begin having Migraine (16.4) tends to be lower than Migraineurs without Endometriosis (21.9). A large percent… Continue

Migraine Chick Migraine Haiku-The Book

I finally put together my migraine haiku book. It is a collection of 100 haiku all written during a migraine about having migraine. It is the biggest writing project I have tackled since this disease has taken over my life, and I’m proud of myself for completing it. These are bad/pseudo haiku, only following the 5/7/5 syllable rule. The rest of the haiku rules were thrown out the window because to me that is what migraines have done to my life. I really wanted to capture what it’s like having… Continue

Janeen Interesting and funny Women's health website: Lively Women

I love when I'm doing research for WEGO Health and not only do I come across a website that is full of great information but also has a sense of humor. One such website is Lively Women. The author of the website, Kristen King, not only tackles topics that are interesting and educational for women but she does so in a way that is entertaining and not preachy or clinical. Her sense of humor is so similar to mine that I was kept laughing out loud so many ti… Continue

Ellen S Chronically ill? Who will REALLY be making your healthcare decisions?

A bill was recently proposed that would limit Medicare payments to doctors based on their performance. While I am concerned over the increasing cost of health care in general and usually all for rewarding good performance in hopes that those with poor performance will strive to improve, I can’t help but wonder if this bill will actually hurt those who need Medicare the most—those with difficult to treat diseases and disorders which may not show favorable performance for the treating physician no… Continue
