Prenatal vitamins: Why We Love Them - and Hate Them
We all know that prenatal vitamins are good for you - whether you have already conceived or are trying to conceive. Most prenatal vitamins are full of folic acid, a baby must, as well as other goodies that serve you above and beyond your normal multivitamin.
Why we love prenatal vitamins:
Hair. Thick, full and shinning hair! For those of us who normally have pretty fine hair this is a major bonus. While not everyone may…

Congratulations you're pregnant! There are more than enough questions swimming through your mind at the moment - and if you're a working gal, then those questions also include:
-
When should you tell your boss?
-
When should you tell your coworkers?
-
What next steps should to be taken once the information is public?

Support is such a vital component of infertility. It's what keeps us all sane through the treatments and the tears. Sometimes the most important thing you can do is to determine the type of support you need and from whom.
Who do you need support from:
- Your friends
- Your family
- Your partner
- Your partner's family
- Your boss
- Your coworkers
- Your doctor or doctors
What kind of support do you need from them:

I am currently reading "
Pushed" by Jennifer Block. It's a truly amazing book that provides a raw look at modern day maternity care. As a society, we are increasingly focused on deadlines, schedules and preparation and in the United States, the act of birthing a child is no exception. Women are increasingly induced, having their water broken and scheduling cesarean sections. Have we forgotten how to let nature run it's course - or is the…

Who doesn't love getting a massage? Well a study conducted by the University of Miami just gave pregnant women plenty of more reasons to head out to the spa or to their favorite massage therapist.
The University of Miami invited 149 women between their fifth and seventh months of pregnancy to one of its many research labs and split them into two groups. One group totally lucked out and got two complimentary massages every week. Massages in the name of science.
The pampered mothers-to-be had…

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommends, in its
new guidelines for pregnancy weight, that women who are obese gain 11 to 20 pounds during pregnancy. Though a recent research study conducted by Yvonne S. Thornton, MD, MPH suggests that women who are already considered obese prior to pregnancy may not need to gain any additional weight during their actual pregnancy.
It's easy to forget th…

Now that the nausea is beginning to subside you may find yourself a bit more snacky than usual. It's great to graze throughout the day, but the trick is to ensure that you're snacking on the right stuff. While Twinkies and chocolate might sound more than appealing - here's a no fail list that always seem to offer me maximum snacking options that are satisfying, healthy and soothe a variety of cravings from salty to sweet.
One of my biggest life (and time) savers has been keeping a staple set of…

Finding the right exercise mix can be incredibly tricky - and let's face it you probably aren't really in the mood to exercise, especially if you're in your first trimester. Those first few weeks - or even months - you feel like doing nothing close to exercise. In fact, getting to and from work, running out to do errands and simply staying awake probably seems like enough exercise for one day.
It goes without saying that exercise (light exercise that is) is an important part of every pregnancy…
