Newsweek recently published an article,
Womb for Rent on the rise of Surrogacy in the United States in recent years.
I was surprised to read that many of these surrogates are military wives.
Newsweek discovered that many women who have turned to surrogacy are military wives looking to supplement the family income while their husbands are serving overseas. Several agencies rep

One thing I found battling infertility was when you met someone else who had gone through it, it is an instant bond. You can be from completely different worlds and have nothing else in common, but you would be able to sit for hours and share your stories and commiserate with each other. What got me through my years of infertility was not my family or my friends or even my husband. It was the group of women I met on an online infertility bulletin board (which no longer exists). I forged bonds st…

When I went through IVF, I transferred three embryos the first time, two the second (that is all I had) and three the last time. At one point I thought I might have four embryo's and asked to transfer the fourth but was told that because of my age (28 at the time) they wouldn't let me. I know from becoming friends with someone doing IVF in the UK, they have more limits on the number of embryo's you can transfer.
BBC News in the UK published the article,…

I found a good short video that talks a bit about Secondary Infertility - infertility that strikes after you've had one or sometimes more successful pregnancies. The video was made with the help of Dr. Frederick Licciardi, a Fertility doctor at
NYU Fertility Center. He has a
Blog where he answers questions and discusses topics.
You can watch the video, entitled "When Infertility Strikes After…

I wanted to get this community started up a bit with some reviews and resources. WEGO has some articles listed under Infertility in their Women’s Health section. The first one I looked at was Infertility Basics. This is a broad overview of infertility – causes and treatments. It is a good starting place to those just starting out, or those who have friends or family going through infertility wants some basic information. I really liked that WEGO has the link t…

A lot is heard in recent years about Acupuncture being used in conjunction with infertility treatments, more specifically, IVF. I used Acupuncture when I was going through my 3rd, final and successful IVF. I had read articles about it and found an acupuncturist in my area who had worked with many infertility patients and even knew my clinic. I had a problem with medication response and egg quality as well as other things. I did a course of acupuncture treatments during my stimulation phase of th…

I found
this article on the increased risk of congenital heart defects in IVF twins.
ScienceDaily (Feb. 3, 2008) — The prevalence of congenital heart disease (CHD) among in vitro fertilization (IVF) pregnancies was similar to that of the general population, but there is an increasing risk of CHD among twins resulting from IVF, according to research by Yale School of Medicine researchers.
Working with the Fetal Cardiova…

Hi. I am an Infertility Survivor. I struggled for over 2 years and 3 IVF's to conceive my first daughter. My second was conceived "naturally", but due to all of my fertility issues, I almost miscarried her.
During my journey through Infertility, I not only learned a lot about myself and what I was capable of handling, but I made some wonderful, life-long friends. Going through infertility gives you an instant bond with others in the same or similar situation. Infertility is a multi-faceted dise…
