Most of my readers know that I'm highly interested in public health. I want to eventually go into women's health education - especially international HIV/AIDS prevention & education. I have been accepted to the Arnold School of Public Health (at the University of South Carolina) and will be heading there for the Fall 2009 academic year. (Super stoked!!!) While i have personal experience with migraine headaches, they're not my ultimate passion. WEGOHealth.com has once again made me a very happy woman by asking me to switch my focus from migraine headaches to birth control. When I received the phone call from Adrienne, I was thrilled, and it was probably the best thing that happened to me on Thursday! (I had a really rough week last week!)
So, instead of migraine research, I spent some time doing birth control research tonight. A few things came up that I want to begin my writings with.

1. I believe every woman on the face of our beautiful blue and green planet should have access to affordable birth control.
2. I believe that no matter what political, religious or cultural stance of a country, all forms of birth control options should be legal.
3. I believe that emergency contraception should be provided to all women upon request, if not offered to women in need.
4. I believe that abortions should be provided safely and correctly for any woman who requests one no matter the situation.
5. I understand that not everyone agrees with me and I can respect that. I hope that you can do the same.

Now for a little personal birth control history!

I've been on birth control for over ten years now. I have used a birth control pills, condoms and a Mirena IUD in the past decade. I've had positive and negative reactions to birth control pills, I have gripes and lauds for condoms, and I could talk a huge positive storm about the Mirena IUD. I plan on using this blog to share all those things, as well as the news surrounding birth control, the newest forms of birth control, and address any questions you have regarding birth control methods.

I am looking forward to this switch and seeing what new stuff I can share with ya'll! I welcome your questions, and you can reach me three different ways:
