Books That Have Helped Me Deal With My Sons Allergies

When my son was first diagnosed with food allergies, I had absolutely NO experience with allergies whatsoever. No one I knew had food allergies. I was so scared and so overwhelmed. It is hard to believe that just 3 years ago there was very little information about food allergies on the web. Today, information is everywhere. But how valid is it? In the beginning it's hard to sift through fact, fiction and voodoo. And believe me, it's all out there. The following is a list of books that I have found educational, helpful, and in some cases very tasty when dealing with food allergies. If you or someone you love has food allergies, I highly recommend checking these out.

So here are my top 7 "most helpful books" for dealing with food allergies:

1. Understanding and Managing Your Childs Food Allergies by Scott H. S...

2. A Parents Guide To Food Allergies by Marianne Barber

3. Caring For Your Child With Severe Food Allergies, Emotional Support...

4. The Complete Peanut Allergy Handbook by Scott H. Sicherer, M.D. and...

5. Cooking Free: 200 Flavorful Recipes For People With Food Allergies ...

6. The Whole Foods Allergy Cookbook: 200 Gourmet and Homestyle Recipes...

7. Great Foods Without Worry by Cindy Moseley

I know that there are more wonderful and helpful books out there and when I run across them, I will update my list.

I just finished reading a good book - How to Manage Your Child's Life-Threatening Food Allergies by Linda Marienhoff Coss. It was very good - a lot of practical tips and tricks and very good information for dealing with schools. My Mom and Sister laughed at me and said I could write a book. Not quite. I did get some good information, learned some new things and had some things I hadn't thought of in it.

I reposted this the other day on "Facebook" for a friend that just found out that her son has food allergies. A wonderful food allergy author, Linda Coss, sent me a note about her amazing food allergy books. The above comment by Sue also recommended one of Linda's books:

"I'd love to see you add my 3 books to your list, too!
"How To Manage Your Child's Life-Threatening Food Allergies: Practical Tips For Everyday Life,"
"What's to Eat? The Milk-Free, Egg-Free, Nut-Free Food Allergy Cookbook" and
"What Else is to Eat? The Dairy-, Egg-, and Nut-Free Food Allergy Cookbook"

Does anyone else have any other book recommendations? If you have a food allergy book that helped you cope, we'd love to know about it or if you wrote a food allergy book or cook book please add it to the list.
