Experiencing an asthma attack - Do you blog about it?

My son has asthma. I do not. So if you ask me to describe asthma I can only do it with an outsiders eyes. I can only tell you about the body retching coughing, the whistling intake of air that should be breathing but hardly resembles the deep influx of air that normal lungs accept. I can describe to you the pale listless boy that lays in my arms at 3 am while we listen to the drone of the nebulizer and watch the puffs of the albutrol steam hoping that it all brings relief. But I can't tell you how asthma feels. I wish I could take the asthma from my son but that is not possible.

I can give clinical details of asthma:

1. Severe wheezing when breathing in and out
2. Persistent cough
3. Rapid breathing
4. Chest pressure and/or pain
5. Difficulty talking or a change in voice
6. A feeling of panic
7. Blue lips and/or finger nails

And for more information see the Asthma Attack Guide from Web MD.

But what does an asthma attack FEEL like??

Want to hear what an asthma wheezing sounds like?? This blog post is of someone's asthma wheezing. Listening to it bothers me because it reminds me of my son when we can't get things under control.

This is a very vivid description of a horrible asthma attack on G's Spot. - G is a Respiratory Therapist that also happens to have asthma.

And I'm linking all of Kerri's posts tagged Flare Ups. These all give you a feeling of what it's like to live with uncontrolled asthma. Not only does she give an idea of what her body goes through but you can totally feel her frustration with not being able to control the symptoms. Thanks for these posts Kerri.

These posts are written by people who have asthma. And they let you FEEL the asthma. I can only tell you what I see. They can give you the whole story.

Do you have a favorite asthma blogger? Does your blogger have asthma or do they write about someone they love that has asthma? Do you vividly describe your asthma attacks on your blog or is it too personal for you?
