A team of researchers recently succeeded in filming the spread of the HIV virus on the cellular level for the first time.
The video shows that the virus spreads by creating a bridge between infected cells and the healthy cells they come in contact with.
The team is hopeful that this discovery will lead to new breakthroughs in the creation of an HIV vaccine; one that would focus on the proteins that create these bridges, virological synapses, instead of the virus itself.
