Preventing Alzheimer's: What Have You Heard?

Alzheimer's is such a common disease, but one that we know little about. Current treatments scarcely impact the degenerative symptoms and the brain plaques and "Alzheimer's gene" that are both attributed to the disease provide only so much information. However, everywhere you look, it seems there is a new regimen, food, mineral, or brain exercise that can reduce your risk.

What Alzheimer's prevention, reduction, or combative remedies have you heard of? What are others in your community discussing? Which remedies have you tried? Which would you like to see better researched?

HelpGuide.org covers a lot of ground in their "Alzheimer's Disease Prevention and Delay" article on "how to reduce, prevent, or delay symptoms of Alzheimer's disease." Including daily "prevention and delay" strategies
read the whole article for an explanation of each proposed strategy.

In her recent post "Health Activists and their communities accidentally build brain function," Ellen mentions the interesting study that "found that using the internet for research improved brain function in its subjects."

Ellen goes on to say: "I do not have Alzheimers that I know of, but wouldn't it be fantastic if using a computer several hours a day became a useful non-drug part of therapy for dementia patients, or those suffering Alzheimer's Disease?! Think about prevention too... If Wii can help make/keep your body fit, why not the internet helping/keeping your brain fit!"
