... I got kicked out of the classroom for sneezing 63 times in a row. I kept a penciled tally on the desk. I became quite the distraction and was asked to leave. Mrs. S never opened the window while they were mowing the field again. Ever. No matter how hot it was.
I finally feel like it's the height of Oregon allergy season; I can't stop sneezing, I've gone through an entire box of Kleenex this week, food doesn't taste right and not even menthol spray can clear out my left nostril. I am allergic to ragweed and grass pollen and right now it's blooming EVERYWHERE around here. I'm thankful that I live alone since my snot face holds a heap of redness ... including two eyes and my nose. I also have to breathe through my mouth since that menthol spray does.not.work.
I have tried all the tricks.
Allergy medications.
Hot showers.
Cold showers.
Washing my face frequently.
Washing my sheets frequently.
Washing my pillows.
Vacuuming w/the HEPA filtered vacuum.
Keeping the house closed all day long.
Keeping the house OPEN all day long.
EVERYTHING.
Just like last year, and the past ten years of my life. Nothing touches my seasonal allergies. I live with them for about two months out of the year, and while that's not as bad as living with a permanent food allergy, it's still not a pleasant couple of months.
What are your seasonal allergy solutions? Are you on a prescription medication? Do you get allergy shots? Do you wear a wet mask to hold the pollen away? Do you live inside for months on end? Share your strange tips with me ... maybe we can make that left nostril clear out!
