In my short time here at WEGO Health, I’ve become more involved as a health activist than I ever thought I would be. It’s extraordinarily difficult to narrow down three things I’m most grateful for in the blog carnival this month, but here are my picks!
1. The WEGO Health Community Leaders. These are the people that you probably see the most action from on the WEGO Health community; Amy K., Ellen S., Janeen, and Alica S. I’m an intern at WEGO Health, and new to blogging as of September when the internship began. I can’t tell you how much I’ve learned from these incredible bloggers; they are incredible women period. I am often inspired to write and learn more by reading their work, and they always give me great feedback!
2. The awesome autism bloggers on the web. Autism, I think, has become a commonly known condition, and I had definitely heard of it before, but it wasn’t until I began really digging deep that I gained a true understanding of the condition. I feel that these bloggers are the perfect example of health activism; they live it everyday and they’re almost always extremely positive about it. There are tons of great activists out there blogging for tons of causes, and I feel like I can learn from all of them, if only I had the time!
3. Twitter as a media health outlet. Before I began interning at WEGO Health, I wasn’t a big fan of Twitter. *Gasp,* I know. But the good news is that these days I come across an incredible amount of awesome tweets on a daily basis, and I’ve found a new appreciation for Twitter.
These are three among a long list of things that I am extremely grateful for while I continue to learn about health activism!
