If you are a parent of a newly diagnosed child with type 1 diabetes you are probably very scared and worried. You are also probably worried about what to feed your child. Luckily there are many wonderful resources on the web that are quick and easy to find and right at your finger tips.

1. Start out with good nutrition. This is a good rule for all of us, but especially important for someone dealing with a chronic disease like juvenile diabetes. Along with your doctor or a dietician, create a meal plan that is right for your child.

2. Create your plate.

3. Eat at the same time everyday and be consistent with the types of food that is eaten.

4. Use the diabetes food pyramid.
