About me
One of the main attractions of WEGO Health, in my mind, is the way we empower health advocates. A few years ago, my family struggled to support my grandmother through a challenging diagnosis, surgery and recovery. What they needed most at that time was information and support. They needed advice on how to work with the different doctors and hospitals involved in my grandmother's care because she couldn't do that for herself. I think WEGO Health would have been a great resource for my family in that time, so I'm very excited to play a part in helping other families and health advocates find the information and support that they need now.

When I'm not at WEGO Health, I'm usually reading in a coffee shop somewhere in Allston, MA.

Online tracking for diabetics

I was wondering if anyone has found successful sites that provide strong tracking tools for diabetics? I heard about one site, SugarStats on The Health Care Blog. Have any of you used this site, or others? While I don't have diabetes, I'm interested in the different ways that online tracking tools can be useful in "real" life. When I went on a diet last year, I used the website… Continue

Alzheimer's Video: My Name is Lisa

I'll be uploading this to WEGO Health's video collection as well, but I wanted to share "My name is Lisa" with all of you. It's a short film by Shelton Films about being a young caregiver for a parent with early-onset Alzheimer's. It's won a number of awards over the past year or so, including Best Short Film of the 2007 YouTube Awards: Continue

Testing Nintendo's Wii Fit

I know the Wii Fit has been a hot topic of conversation in the WEGO Health Community (and many others, I'm sure), so I wanted to post this article I saw on the New York Times today: "O.K., Avatar, Work With Me" Sounds like the Wii Fit will be great for those of us who, maybe aren't getting to the gym everyday... I don't actually own a Wii (I'm not even sure if I could hook one up to my television!) but from the… Continue

Could your doctor have better manners?

I came across an interesting article today that was written up in The Health Care Blog about Etiquette-Based Medicine. While I've been fortunate to have had (almost) exclusively positive encounters with medical professionals, I know that this is certainly not the case for everyone. In our community and many others, I've heard peopl… Continue

Thank you for your kind words! We want so badly to be perfect for those we love, but we can't be. And they won't be perfect either. So, acceptance of our flawed characters is important. Things get better then, for some reason.

Hi Marie - Sorry I've been MIA. I'm having extreme computer problems. My computer can manage one program at a time, sometimes, for a few minutes! Copying and pasting is much too much for it. Repair guy coming first thing tomorrow and as soon as I'm operational I will get the coaching series up - right away!
