Thanks Paula for the warm welcome.
My passion is somewhat different in a way. I want to educate thyroid patients in standing up for themselves, taking charge of their health and being their own advocate. Thyroid patients have been shoved in a corner for far too long. We have been told we have mental issues, it is all in our heads, our levels are within range, etc. We need to educate ourselves in the gland or endocrine system and what each one does and how they work together. Knowledge is power and self awareness is the key to a better life.
Hi Michelle - welcome to WEGO Health. I'm glad to see you joined our thyroid community. It is a relatively new community and can absolutely use new members to spread awareness about the condition. I hope you will post and share your own experience.
I noticed your main motivation for joining WEGO was to raise awareness about a particular condition. The Opinion Leader Exchange would be a great place for you to accomplish that. The exchange is a place where health advocates can exchange ideas and network with others to raise awareness about conditions that are important to them. I hope you will consider joining us.
Please let me know if I can help you in any way. Take care and have a great weekend :)
I was diagnosed with Graves Disease in 2002. I choose to go the medication route, even if that means for the rest of my life. In 2007, I finally found a doctor who had the thyroid knowledge to help me. He diagnosed me with Graves and Hashi's, and started me on a type of therapy called modified Block and Replace. I have recently been diagnosed with adrenal issues. I eat a total organic diet to include my meats, etc.
To date, I am still able to work every day, but has become a challenge some days.
I look forward to sharing and learning.
Michelle

Boy, is this the right place for that...
Why don't you post on the intro thread of the group? I didn't want mine to be the first. :)
