Hi Patty, I've just read your interview and I found it to be very motivational. You have some really great tips for Alzheimer's caregivers. My mother and grandfather acted as my grandmother's caregivers for eight years, and I grew up watching them do this. You've definitely got lots of helpful tips there!

Patty, I was so moved by your story... and also impressed by your proactive approach to your situation. Your interview provides really good advice and is so empowering! Welcome here! You are already doing such an amazing job as an advocate for Alzheimer's but I hope that the connections and resources on WEGO Health will continue to broaded your reach and influence. You have a powerful message!

Glad to have you here. Don't hesitate to send a message, anytime!

Patty,

I am so encouraged and inspired by the list published in your WEGO Health Spotlight. That list could apply to many different diseases and disorders. If readers don't yet think they are affected in some way by Alzheimer's, I hope that they will still look at that list with an open heart and apply it to whatever health issues they may be dealing with.

I did not have to deal with Alzheimer's, tho it was a part of my family. As a relative who lived out of state, I simply was never told until I learned of my beloved aunt's death. My uncle broke off all ties to the entire branch of our family tree and dealt with the Alzheimer's his wife suffered from with his children for support.

Reading your list helped me to put myself in my Uncle's shoes and appreciate and perhaps even understand more personally what he lived the 10 years she was ill, and even more deeply regret that I was not able to be a part of it.

I still mourn my aunt, and wish I'd had the opportunity to use the things you mention in your list and been with her regardless if she knew who I was or not. I knew who she was, and for me that's enough.

You sound like a force to be reckoned with. I admire you and echo your resolve in my own personal search for health and information.

Someday, I pray we find the answers and information we know are out there...

Hi Patty - welcome to WEGO Health.

You have done a wonderful job with The Unforgettable Fund. It is a beautiful tribute to your father and other's who have suffered with this awful disease.

I watched the video of your father and I have so much respect for all of you, especially your mom.

Your family and the doctors at Mayo and Scripps in Florida are doing a wonderful thing with this site. Hopefully a cure will be found in our life time.
