About me
Hi. I am Sue - a Mom to 2 girls - 3 and 2. I battled Infertility for 2 1/2 years before my oldest was conceived through In-Vitro Fertilization. My second was conceived naturally (against all odds), but I almost miscarried her b/c of my fertility issues. My oldest has a severe dairy allergy, my youngest has environmental allergies and both have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (aka GERD).

Navigating through both Infertility and then Food Allergies has changed me as a person and shown me how strong I can be. As a Community Leader for Pregnancy and Fertility, I hope to use my knowledge and experiences to help those in similar situations. I am very excited to be a part of WEGO Health.

The controversy of Surrogacy.

Newsweek recently published an article, Womb for Rent on the rise of Surrogacy in the United States in recent years. I was surprised to read that many of these surrogates are military wives.
Newsweek discovered that many women who have turned to surrogacy are military wives looking to supplement the family income while their husbands are serving overseas. Several agencies rep…

The infertility bond

One thing I found battling infertility was when you met someone else who had gone through it, it is an instant bond. You can be from completely different worlds and have nothing else in common, but you would be able to sit for hours and share your stories and commiserate with each other. What got me through my years of infertility was not my family or my friends or even my husband. It was the group of women I met on an online infertility bulletin board (which no longer exists). I forged bonds st… Continue

Single embryo transfer in IVF?

When I went through IVF, I transferred three embryos the first time, two the second (that is all I had) and three the last time. At one point I thought I might have four embryo's and asked to transfer the fourth but was told that because of my age (28 at the time) they wouldn't let me. I know from becoming friends with someone doing IVF in the UK, they have more limits on the number of embryo's you can transfer. BBC News in the UK published the article,… Continue

When Infertility strikes after you are a Mom

I found a good short video that talks a bit about Secondary Infertility - infertility that strikes after you've had one or sometimes more successful pregnancies. The video was made with the help of Dr. Frederick Licciardi, a Fertility doctor at NYU Fertility Center. He has a Blog where he answers questions and discusses topics. You can watch the video, entitled "When Infertility Strikes After… Continue

Infertility - beginning resources

*Originally posted on Feb 7, 2008.* I wanted to get this community started up a bit with some reviews and resources. WEGO has some articles listed under Infertility in their Women’s Health section. The first one I looked at was Infertility Basics. This is a broad overview of infertility – causes and treatments. It is a good starting place to those just starting out, or those who have friends or family going through infertility wants some basic information. I really liked that WEGO has the link t… Continue
