The reason why Christian lifestyle guidelines for health-fitness nutrition or weight management also intentionally include mental, emotional, scientific and spiritual advice is this... Weight loss requires a huge sense of PURPOSE.
Physically, the steps to losing unwanted body fat are relatively simple. Eat less fatty food, exercise more. That's it, from a purely physical standpoint. However, what ELSE do you need to do in order to lose weight and stay lean? From a Christian lifestyle viewpoint,…

By the way, I like this post, very interesting topic, and a highly important one, as well.
Listening to the comments of almost one hundred other, what I would even call "dedicated weight loss enthusiasts," a pattern exists, if you dare to notice it. Even exercise scientists and expert weight management consultants often fail to address this topic with most clients. That is, "humanity." I mean, overweight people are just ordinary human beings... and with that comes the innate desire to avoid anything that is seemingly unpleasant.
Our job as wellness professionals includes a responsibility to deal with our clients’ personal challenges and preferences, when it comes to losing excess body fat. And, when you can find a pro who "dares" to make this weight loss thing exciting, fun, and inviting... you stand to benefit from such a unique discovery.
And, actually, that is the key... to make weight loss fun... as much fun as a child riding a bicycle. As adults, we tend to slow down on lots of ideas, unintentionally. And the funny thing is, the more you learn about weight management, the more you surprisingly uncover that it's perfectly okay to get busy again physically, even at an older age.
Sometimes I ask my clients to simply "look at a child," almost any child... you can hardly give them a reason to STOP moving around. (And, notice how thin they are. It's not coincidence.) Kids hardly give body fat a chance to accumulate. They're always shaking it off! We have the challenge to emulate their marvelously positive attitude toward movement, and can benefit from their example in that way, as well.
By the way, I want to keep this post as brief as possible, for your easy-reading... but, remind me to tell you next time, about the American guy living in the Philippines, who tells us how he actually mastered his emotional weaknesses concerning body fat. It's an interesting story, with a very positive outcome.
Okay, see you on the next post and I look forward to your response.

The mental aspect is probably the hardest thing for me to overcome. If I can just convince myself that losing the weight is achievable I will have won a major battle, if not the war.
I look forward to reading more of your posts in the community and I will be checking out your blog and website as well :)
That line is, "The mind is the foundational strength element that propels the body where it wishes to go."
Yet, the trick is, mental disciplines require practice, too, just like physical ones. So the more you practice aiming your mind at achieve a goal, the more skillful you become at it.
By the way, thank for your invitation to join the additional diet and weight loss community. I'll go over there and sign up right away... because I hear people "screaming" for almost all kinds of weight loss help. ( s m i l e )
