I'm sorry you are having similar allergic reactions as I am to the pollen. I'm guessing that I'm more sensitive to Pine tree pollen. The allergy shots that you are referring are probably steroid-based - if not, please let me know what they consist of.
I got a shot today and am expecting two weeks of relief. Then, I'll pursue a very bland diet and keep adding food items over a week or so to see if there's any reaction. I'm sure glad I'm doing it from this side - where I check if I get the hives rather than trying to see if the hives go away if I remove something.
My 18 year old son has asthma and wakes up sneezing and snorfing. I can always find where he's at by the tissue trail. So, I can relate to your story. I wish you well in going to school in South Carolina. The environment should be considerably different from Oregon's. Good Luck.

Let me know how you like Mermaid, and maybe I'll give it another try soon.
I'm currently reading your recommended: The Poisonwood Bible. This is my 3rd attempt. The first time I was enjoying it, but got sidetracked with other books; the second time, I hated it--I think it had something to do with being very angry at the self-righteous father.
A bunch of the ladies at WAH couldn't stop raving about it, so I decided to pick it up again. Now I'm more than 3/4 in, and I'm actually loving it! I can't believe it! Adah is awesome. If you told me when I first started that I would end up feeling this way about it, I would have disagreed.
It may very well end up becoming a favorite. :o)
