I was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 1995 at the age of 55.
I live in Oklahoma with my husband of 47 years. We have two sons who live in Oklahoma one of them lives right behind us and the other one fifty miles away. We have seven grandchildren and about to have our eighth great grandchild.
I enjoy gardening, fishing, watching the birds, and traveling in our motorhome.
Mary,
I just finished reading your spotlight interview and I have to say that you sound like an amazing person. The work you do helping others going through the same as you is invaluable. You must truly be a self-less person. I don't think you need to give comment you made on you last question, "I want to be an inspiration to others for years to come" another thought. You are an inspiration and always will be.
I'm so glad that you've joined us at WEGO Health. Your Spotlight interview was terrific and I wanted to tell you that I actually ran into your blog a few days ago purely by accident. Okay well, I guess I'm a 'higher design' person. :)
The interview left me anxious to ask you 2 questions-
What is the advice you would give to a person who is afraid of seeking a diagnosis?
What advice would you give to someone who has just been hit with this diagnosis?
Thank you for all that you do and for being the person that you are. The world is probably afraid of Alzheimer's... much more so than they would like to admit. You let the world peek into your window and I think that is so helpful!
Hi Mary
I just finished reading your Spotlight Interview. Your friends' abandonment made me so sad. I think this is very common across many chronic illnesses, which is a horrendous "side effect."
Welcome to WEGO Health! I'm glad you were able to join. I'm looking forward to reading through the rest of your blog, Mary's Place. It's been wonderful working with you the past few days.
Thanks again for helping us!
-Jody
